The short version: Social Buddy collects no personal data. Nothing leaves your device. Ever.
Social Buddy is an app that helps children practice social skills — like ordering food, making friends, and handling tricky situations — by role-playing with a friendly animal character.
None. Social Buddy has no accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. The app does not transmit any information to us or to anyone else.
The app remembers a few things so children can continue where they left off: the chosen buddy character, the first name a child may optionally type in (used only to greet them on screen), earned stars and stickers, and which activities have been completed. This information is stored only in the browser/app storage on the device itself. It is never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app (or using the "Reset" button in the Grown-Ups Corner) removes it completely.
Social Buddy offers voice practice. When a child taps the microphone button, the device's built-in speech recognition converts their words to text so the buddy can respond. This uses the speech service built into the device or browser (on Android this is Google's speech service, which may process the audio to turn it into text, under Google's own privacy terms). Social Buddy itself never receives, records, stores, or transmits audio or text, and the microphone is only active in the moments after the child taps the mic button. Voice is entirely optional — every activity can be completed with tap buttons instead.
Social Buddy is designed for children and is built to comply with children's privacy laws, including COPPA (US) and GDPR-K (EU), the simplest way possible: by collecting nothing at all. Social Buddy uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and loads nothing from outside the app (even its fonts and pictures are built in). There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no links out of the app other than this policy.
If the app ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this page will be updated before the change takes effect.
